| This image is borrowed from Bronzino's "Laura Battiferri" of c.1555. This Laura of Bronzino's day apparently identified with the Laura for whom the poet, Petrarch wrote sonnets. (In Bronzino's full image, this Laura holds open a book of the sonnets.) Bronzino appears to have exaggerated the length of her neck, and it is the imperfect beauty of this woman that Dees honors here. This image is 20" w x 24" h. and comes with its ornate, silver frame. |
