Portland Fountain by Shirley Marie Dees

This is very small - appx. 8" x 8" including the frame. The main image is taken from a photograph of one of the fountains donated around 1900 by Simon Benson of Portland, Oregon. Benson was against drinking alcoholic beverages and hoped that Portlanders would not frequent the city's saloons if water was freely available. These fountains are still in use today (along with the bars). There is no text on this artwork, other than the location and date of the photograph.
