This artwork is from the Bronowski series. The
overall height of the lamp with its shade and distinctive finial
= 36". It has a 3-way switch for lighting options.
The main image on the base of the lamp is from a book of Art Nouveau
designs - that drawing is signed E.F-B. Also included on the base
is the image of a winged ibex from a Persian jar handle (c. 400-300
b.c.e.) - this image is both on the lamp's base and on the oval
lamp shade.
The lamp shade is top quality and hand decorated to coordinate
with the base. The lamp also coordinates with the Fuseli
Table and theBronowski
Chair.
The following text is on the lamp base and is quoted from
Jacob Bronowski's Ascent of Man:
"Every animal leaves traces of what he was; man alone leaves
traces of what he created."
