Peacock Box open

The Peacock Blue Box is an ideal coffee table or bench for extra seating with storage inside. With the support of 6" high legs, its dimensions are a total of 19" high, 27.75" wide, and 13" deep. The main images on the front and backs of the chairs are taken from photos of flowers, birds, Portland's Japanese Garden, clip art, and "The Marsh Marigold" (c. 1870) by the Pre-Raphaelist artist, Edward Burne-Jones. Quotes include "La Vita Nuova" by Dante Allighieri on the front of the box: "In that book which is my memory... on the first page, that is the chapter when I first met you. Appear the words... Here begins a new life." On the back is a poem by the Chinese poet, Wang Wei (c. 760 ce): "Day after day we can't help growing older. Year after year Spring can't help seeming younger. Come let's enjoy our winecup today - not pity the flowers fallen." On the ends of the box are two poems by the McMinnville, Oregon author, Mary Sterling Bailey: "I have learned the lesson of friends. I have learned the joy of love. I know now there is no need for words. Only in silent companionship is the true meaning of deep understanding," and "Human nature - So involved - So immersed in me - So inside my head - Myself."
