| Limbourg Book Cover by Shirley Marie Dees.
This image is provided to show the woodburning stage in development
of this style of art. Images are first lightly drawn on the wood,
then woodburned, then painted with acrylics (usually leaving some
area[s] of the wood unpainted). Next a wood stain is applied, and
finally several coats of finish are added to protect the art. Transparent
acrylics usually dominate in order to show the woodgrain, with opaque
and metallic acrylics often used as accents. This particular style
was developed by the artist. |
